Complete Kickboxing by Martina Sprague and Keith Livingston

I snagged a copy of Martina Sprague's and Keith Livingston's Complete Kickboxing book from Amazon over the holidays. This is a great book for anyone who is interested in kickboxing training.

Where most boxing books cover the jab in less than one page, this book has an entire chapter (14 pages and 39 photos) covering proper technique. And it's not just the jab that gets this in depth treatment, all the punches, kicks, elbows, blocks, etc. get the same treatment.

The writing is top notch as well. Each technique is described in depth in regards to proper stance, strategy, drills, and exercises.

In addition, Keith's and Martina's tales of training and competition really liven things up. They have both had quite a few interesting experiences.

    Positives
    • Photos, photos, and more photos (1000+)
    • In depth description of punches, kicks, blocks, etc.
    • Dirt cheap ( less than $20 at amazon) considering the amount of content
    Negatives
    • Only a few paragraphs covering training with the speed bag. (Ok, this isn't much of a complaint, but I had to come up with something! What did you expect from the webmaster of speedbagforum.com?)
