GSP vs Talking Punching Bag & How about Lyoto!!

Not much to say about this fight last night. Fight hype is what it is, but with comments like, "It's good to hear that Georges has a psychologist that he has to go to. A sports psychologist," ... "Does that help you out Georges? You got psychological problems or what" or,
Penn said on the first episode of UFC Primetime that he intended to "go to the death" against St. Pierre, adding, "serious, Georges, I'm going to go to the death. I'm going to try to kill you, and I'm not joking about this."
In the beginning, middle and end, total domination by GSP. Now the GSP-doubters are already looking to Thigao Alves as the one that St. Pierre will lose to.
Respect to BJ for taking the fight - he is no doubt a great fighter; but GSP is not the same fighter that he was, even in is last one or two fights. He keeps getting better. He deserves some respect; he has earned it in spades.
Can't sign off without giving props to Lyoto Machita. Played the Matador to a T. Uncanny reflexes and speed coupled with deceptive power. I know he is a 205'er but would he and Anderson Silva be something to see?

BJ as the talking punching bag indeed my friend. I have to admit I thought BJ would dominate and stop St. Pierre in light of their first meeting, but GSP showed vastly improved skills and BJ looked like the same gassed out phenom of old. Hard work is what wins titles not hard talk, and BJ talked himself into a hole and surrounded himself with yes men instead of pushing himself like GSP. Hats off to GSP, and even though his chin is still in question, he is still the most complete fighter out there sans FEDOR...

I agree about Lyoto, IMO the best 205'er in the world, I think he would beat Andersen Silva myself. Lyoto and Rampage is what I wanna see...

hey man im also a huge GSP fan. being a canadian boy im always going to show the love to the fellow countryman. been seeing dana talk lately about maybe GSP going up and fighting anderson silva. i believe the tittle holder should stay in there weight class and defend it to other deserving fighters. you guys agree? i think by doing this with BJ thats one less chance for another deserving guy to get on top of the weight division. just my thoughts. but the whole talking aspect of the fight game is just there to sell fights. im sure the UFC has something to do with that. i think if they were both going in saying "i like and respect the other guy" wont sell nearly as much pay per view. the belief of bad blood between fighters makes it more interesting. but always take heart to even step into a fight. if GSP keeps training hard hes going to keep doing well and continue to get better. and if BJ was to startes train hard especially in the cardio department and possibly find a better camp he will also continue to do well.

Yes, but SOMEBODY has to go give Anderson some competition. The last match was pretty bad (Patrick Cote)

ya thats true henderson is the only one to win a round against him in the UFC but that fight turned south for anderson soon after that. i think if they need/want to give anderson and good fight he should move up to 205 (the deepest weight class imo) rather than him fight a much smaller guy in GSP. even if GSP packs on the lbs anderson is just a big dude being 6'2 and GSP only 5'10 not matter what GSP is going to be smaller so hopefully if all this does happen GSP does okay.

Agreed. That would probably be for the best, for Anderson to move up to LHW.

I just saw the fight between GSP and BJ. I respect both fighters but was rooting for GSP, and he did not disappoint!! He's been pushing himself more and more to be the best. I expected more of a fight from BJ, but Georges COMPLETELY dominated him. To see him fight Anderson Silva. Yeah, I'd love to see that. Anderson has been sooooo unstoppable and he's another fighter who pushes himself in training. I'm no fight analyst, just a fan so I pick from my heart not my head(which is why I don't bet LOL). I think Georges can and will overcome whatever obstacles are put in front him i.e. Anderson's reach and awesome striking, and take the fight to the next level. I'm getting wordy but wanted to also comment on Lyoto Machida who's just been amazing with his elusiveness, and what an awesome knockout!! Also, the John Jones domination of Stepan Bonner, Jones is young and aggressive and looks extremely promising. Thoughts anyone?

JJ did a great job - and is a wrestler! For a young fella, just getting into the big time he showcased himself well. Plenty of work to do, cardio of course and a high-end coach/trainer to keep Jon from getting reckless. I think that if he gets these things in check, you will see him climb quickly. Very quickly. Oh, and seems like a nice guy too; I think that is an important quality - you know, what goes around ... and, after all, it is not pro wrestling.

Well said! this kid is definately got the skills, and have you noticed the trend with wrestlers in the UFC? I.E. Chuck Liddell, knockout artist, Rashad Evans, just keep getting more intense, Josh Koshcheck, and now Jon Jones. Even Randy Couture.. All these guys were wrestlers at first. They've all stepped their game up!

Anderson vs GSP has been a fight ive been thinking about for awhile. although the size and reach difference is there gsp is the best mma-built wrestler to date and one of anderson's "softer" spots is wrestling. GSP really couldn't beat anderson on the feet with the reach disadvantage and anderson being crazy there. GSP would have to take it to the mat and out wrestle, ground and pound and jiu-jitsu anderson. It would be certainly be an interesting fight. Another fight i was interested about is Anderson vs Lyoto. A battle of these strikers would be pretty awesome. Anderson, the most dominant, devastating striker of this time vs Lyoto, the most confusing striker of this time as well as a very good striker.

that wud be interesting but i dont know if its a good idea putting a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt on his back...not mention hes going to have to eat a knee or punch while going for a shot...as much as i love GSP i really dont think he has a shot right now Anderson is just to good.
