Hey all! Recently I've become deeply addicted to hittin' the bag and am looking for any leads on plans for a freestanding platform. I have an Everlast platform for myself but I'm finding I have to fight off my 7yo son for bag time...

I've seen Tim's set up which, while it looks great, would be too big for the space I have. Ultimately I'd like to find some plans for a corner unit. I've been trying to design one myself, but if there are any proven designs out there I'd like to take a look.

This stand would be for my boy, so I'd like to set it up so the height can be set as he grows (thinking long-term here). Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. If nothing exists out there, then perhaps I can get some feedback from you guru's regarding the design I have thus far, and possibly spot any potential issues.

Well, here it is. Went to Home Depot yesterday with my boy and we got it done today. It's perfect for him, he's already done a few rounds on it this evening. Turns out I could have bought a platform for not a whole lot more than the materials cost, but I had an idea that'd be the case. Having him help cut & drill, and be interested was worth it though!

Great project and nice setup. Hope it hits solid. Isn't that right side blocking the door....

It's actually more stable than I thought it'd be. I can get the bag moving at a nice clip on it. There is definitely some vibration when I'm hitting the bag, but my kid isn't hitting as hard as I am (yet), so I can't see that as an issue for a while. And that's the bulkhead door, it gets used about twice a year :)

Mighty fine construction - very solid.

Snoof - very nice! I was going to propose something similar. Looks like you've got the optimal design for use of the space. If you have any further questions, let us know !
