My Setup

I've been meaning to do this for a while and had some time so heres my home made set up. I made the board out of 2" thick mdf so there is not much vibration but i still did have to put a 2 by 4 in there to cut the vibration down. Now there is none. My first idea was to make it adjustable but could not take the vibration so that 2 by 4 makes it stationary now. I also included a picture of my rival speed bag and swivel.

I also put in a picture of my double end bag which is made by ATF a Canadian company of course and i have a heavy bag but could not get good enough light at night to take a picture. As I said I took these at night so if anyone wants better picture reply and ill try to get better ones upon request.

This what I did for vibration. 2 Pieces of heavy duty plywood glued together with liquid nails and screws. Here are a few pics.

if i was you chris, i would throw a couple of sandbags on top just for good measure. if anything, it will only make your unit better.

I highly recommend the sandbag on top of the unit. You will be amazed at the difference in sound and how it cuts down on vibration.

You can buy sand bags at Lowe's or Home Depot for less than $5.00. Doing that did more than any other one single thing to my platforms.

Ok Chris M maybe ill do that thanks for the advice. But i didnt really design the platform to hold weight. How much weight of sand should i put on there?

It only takes 20 or 30 pounds to make a significant difference.

i put two 20-25 lbs sandbags on top of my unit to cover more area. i know for a fact that my unit was the most stable and vibration free unit i ever tried. then i put a couple sandbags on top. i was amazed by the difference. if only in sound difference, it's worth it!

thanks a lot for the info guys i'm going to do that asap. Also I currently have it attached to dry wall dose anyone have any suggestions how to make it more securely attached to the wall?

if you use three inch lags then you should be all right. mine is attached to drywall as well.

ya i wud suggest it. i have about 80lbs of sand on mine and there may be some vibration but i dont notice it.

Thanks for sharing and great job, this looks like a very cost effective DIY project. Can you take a top profile view of the drum and post? Looks like you used a couple of carriage bolts.
