Nice control. It's tough going slow on such a fast bag, isn't it.? Kinda like driving 40 in a Ferrari.

I really like the position of your elbows when your doing front fist and front-reverse pass throughs. I notice your elbow-to-shoulder really stays solid, and almost all the movement out and back is from the elbow. That's great position for controlling all linking and first rollings.

I would suggest trying to link side-to-side with the same elbow-arm position. Looks like you kinda drop the elbows a bit on side double punching. I've noticed that in your other videos. It works for you alright, but it may look smoother if you can do that without altering your arm position. The arms move around for the elbow strikes, but if the bag is the proper height (yours is) all linking can be done with the same Elbow-Shoulder position.

To hear the speed bag king tell me his Knowledge makes me want to learn more and more. I will however try what you said. Ithe reason my posture is like that is because of you alan kahn, after i watched your video and it told me how i was supposed to stand i was like OK so now that you have spoken again you will see the smoothness come into play soon. What about you??? Why did you stop posting videos? I know your not a show off like me but come on at least 1 video of a month from the speed bag king!!! Thank you again for your compliments does make me feel really confident when i step up to the bag!

I guess the answer to that is, I have many years worth of video footage, punching either freestyle or to music, standing and riding cycles. I'm not sure posting a lot more of it will add anything new. I've hit to hundreds of songs, so I guess I could find a tune or two if you want. But a lot of it is not just full bore fast. I never really focused just on going fast. Sure, as your finding out Skunk, speed happens. The hands just keep going faster, but keeping pace to music forces you to punch at a constant pace, and manipulate your punching speed slightly to make the bag beat match the song. I'm really thinking about making a few teaching clips, especially for forum members that want to make the jump to hitting to music. There are a few tricks about that I could probably pass on. I address it in the book, but you really have to hear it.

And the truth is, right now I spend a lot more time writing and communicating about the speed bag than I do punching it, so NEW footage on my end is a little sparse. Couple that with an annoying vibration when I punch that I believe is a broken or split stud in the wall that my main board is attached to. It's IN the wall, so I suspect the many lag screws it has endured (four different boards) have finally spit the wood and lose board support. to make matters worse, I sorta suck at carpentry.

I did just recently find and import some "vintage 1979" speed bag footage. Just a younger, slimmer version of what's up now. Pretty funny, wailing away at an Everlast 4200 in a steamy weight room on Fort Benning, Ga.

I've done my share of exercise at Ft. Benning, but I was there for Officer Candidate School and it was 1987. My chest and arms hurt just thinking about that place from the million of pushups I did all over that post. :D I still hate that place but I did leave there with a gold bar on my right lapel and headgear.

Ha ha, about two steps after I got pinned, and it was from a classmate! We had a couple of SF and Ranger E7's in our class that I graduated with and they were totally unimpressed with their new commissions. They kept telling us that the only difference between a PFC and a 2nd Lieutenant is the PFC has had two promotions. Little did I know at the time just how true that statement was. However, I was an E5 with five years under my belt when I entered OCS too, but I was still mighty impressed with myself. It really took me about two years to really be comfortable with my new responsibilities.
