I prefer Everlast Professional bags for several reasons:
1. The loop is fat and short so it doesn't twist
2. I can order the bags in the color or color combination that I like.
3. The leather is soft and they rebound well.
I do have a couple of Title bags and they are good bags, but my only gripe with them is that I don't like the way Title does the loops.
I also have a 5x8 Title Classic bag and although it works, I'm not too crazy about the shape.

My favorite bag died a few years ago. It was an older style teardrop 8x5 bag by Ringside. You can See it well Here (http://www.metacafe.com/watch/101675/speed_bag_drumming/), and also
see it here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69vDYk8NO34&mode=related&search=). I have a lot of video with that bag.
I punched the leather off the belly until it's underwear showed through. :( then it retired.
Basically I prefer a nice teardrop or rounder bag. I dislike the long, thin "banana" shape bags. I think the rounder ones are faster, Have a better reaction and just prefer that style.
I gotta go with the rival 9x6 because the leather is nice and soft the loop is short and thick and has a nice rebound to it.
I have hit Everlast, tittle, and TKO but preferred the rival over the other bags that i have used/owned.

extra small title bags are way softer and you are able to hit them longer with no gloves...

I have to agree - I tried various Everlast bags - and my favorite are the Professional series
I just (this morning) picked up a 9x6 yellow and black Everlast Professional - man it is sweet!

You'd probably like the Top Contender line for that reason as well. Very soft.

I had contacted thesportsdoctor (http://www.thesportsdoctor.com/Boxing.html) over a year ago and they had no bags on hand. They told me they hadn't had orders in a while. They were going to make a few 8x5's and send them to me. I never heard from them, and never got the bags. I'd love to try them. The owner, Johnny Golomb is the grandson of the man who started Everlast.

I am sure if we can guarantee him a small order they can make a batch... maybe a dozen ? seems small but they may go for it....
I think $50-$60 is my limit... although it is a custom bag - so it would be neat to have.

Anyone interested in picking up the ball (bag) and running with it?
I didn't see a telephone number on the web site....tried calling 411 but they didn't have a number. I'd commit to buying a 9x6 in a heart beat.

I would definitely be interested in buying one, possibly two. What makes it custom? Would we get "Speed Bag Forums" or something sewn into the leather? Or some type of embroidery? For that I would def' buy 2. I'm a little too busy these days to head this one up but after a week or so I can look into it

Awesome looking bags but sorry i cannot commit to buying one right now. i used to have a kangaroo skin baseball glove and loved it so these bags are probably very good too.

OK, since I brought it up..... Called John G. in NY this morning and left a voice mail regarding the purchase of several bags. No sense going further with a count yet until we know if he is still in the bag business. "What makes it custom?" The fact that it is made from kanga's and not cows I suppose.
We'll see what is what (or not) if and when he calls back.

Alan, is there any chance you could contact Mr. Golomb and ask him if he's interested in selling some bags and if so, what his minimum order would be in order to make a batch?
I'd be willing to front the money *perhaps* depending on how many bags were needed and what the cost is. Then I'd sell the bags to anyone on here for cost + actual shipping charges.

I have already emailed him via their email contact address.
It would be great to get a "speedbagforum" bag, but don't sell the other equipment companies short either. You'd be surprised who reads this forum. Particular when they receive emails featuring links to very positive feedback by members here on the forum. Balazs was really excited about this forum's reviews of their I-BOX system. You 'd be surprised what a company might do when their products start getting featured in a positive light.
But when I spoke to Johnny Golomb last year, he was very positive about making several custom "roo" bags for me to try. No doubt he got sidetracked, and I didn't really push the issue as I was heading into a shoulder surgery anyway. By the time I was really physically able to put one onhook, the idea had fallen off my radar also. But ideas never die, they just get postponed.

I use a bag by Jim Bradley out of Australia ( jimbradley.com.au ) . Nicest one I've found. About a 9 x 6 with the seams stitched on the inside. Good feel, true action and real fast. First bag I had was the 4200 by Everlast but the big seams made it too unstable and twitchy. I use it on a Top Professional Heavy Duty Pro Swivel from Everlast. Jim Bradley has an interesting swivel made from Polycarbon that's really fast too.

It appears that the bag and swivel are all one piece in that picture, is that correct?
Nevermind, I went out to the website and saw a better picture and it's kind of an optical illusion. I do like the fact that the ball is so close to the board with that swivel.

I don't know how the pro ball hits, but the one I have (6x9 / 25 cm) is perfect. I emailed the company about what size the pro ball is but I haven't heard back. The bags have a thick wide loop on them and when they're used on the Jim Bradley swivel, the action is perfect. No bounce or jump. I have to squish the loop to get it on the Everlast swivel but it still works ok if I tape above the loop. The Jim Bradley swivel does keep the bag really close to the board and the speed is amazing.
You can buy a bag / swivel combo from the website below for $90 AUS which is about $75 US. Same one I have. The bags are expensive, but once you hit it, you'll understand why. I'm not from Australia, but they're really into speed balls there.

One other interesting note about the Jim Bradley bags. They have a zipper, instead of laces so the closure never loosens up.

For me, it's simple. The ULTIMATE BAG is the one bag I most enjoy hitting. I've had several, of different sizes. When I beat that one to death, ( :( ) I look for another.
In my early career (1972-1995) It was the Everlast 4200, 9x6. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SFGH1T8Li_4&mode=related&search=) I wore out several of these. They were always so consistent in size, shape, rebound and response. (where did that quality go...)
* During that era of my life, I was kind of a "strict traditionalist". I didn't want Red bags, or multicolored bags. I wanted an all black bag, and wouldn't buy other styles.
In about 1995-1996 I fell for what had to be one of my all time favorites, Probably seen by you all in many of my online video's, or private collection.
Ringside "old style" teardrop 8x5 - early days (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55DcX1TfCOc)
Ringside 8x5 Ringside "old school" 8x5 - later years (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7aOoNo7Y58) *note the small rip in the red leather seam area at the song opening.
Advance senior citizen_near death Ringside 8x5 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xP7qWhkUwHc). * At about 4m20sec into this, during "beautiful noise", you can actually see the advanced rip. Just after a FDP_RDP double time combo, I catch the bag with my left hand at 4m24sec. As I raise my right hand to hit, the bag spins a bit and you can see the red leather is ripped by the seam. Actually the rip is larger in the black panel, but it's colored with Black Magic Marker. (A cheap trick to make it look better on camera). I had actually punched the leather off that panel and it the rip was spreading. A few workouts after this, the bladder bubble that was growing underneath pooched out, mishaped the bag and put it out of sync. It was already lossing air during workouts, and - after 10 years of almost daily pounding, retired it with dignity.
The next generation. 2004
Custom made Ringside 8x5 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhkKmq1K5zQ&mode=related&search=) * nice touch to a make few of these for me based on the older style. I pretty much save these for special occassions or demonstrations. At home, I train with other bags. mostly larger right now, for hitting these smaller ones still hurts my shoulder.
The Ultimate Bag is really a personal choice, and the search for one is like looking for your soulmate. they wrote a song about it....
If you can't find some Bag to love, Love the bag you're with.
