    Opening a chain link swivel

    Greetings to all,


    any ways you re familiar with of opening a chain link swivel (i ve never used one before) without harming/bending the little thing it has attached? What kind of tools are needed etc

    The best way is to get a flat bladed regular screwdriver and insert it in the removable link and twist and that will open the open end of removable link. Then you have to slide the clip upward so it slides off. It's definitely a pain to open them. The best way to reinstall them is with a pair of needle nose pliers. Grab the closed end of the link and push it back in place.

      I used snap ring pliers to take it off, and to put it back on is very easy without any tools, just align end holes and push it on, pressing more on one of the longer sides and than once it is on, the other.

        I have found the easiest way is by retaining ring or snap pliers as JayLee mentioned. Chris M's method will work also, but I rarely do this with a screw driver without busting a knuckle - but I'm not gifted with tools.
