    I question whether or not the bag is actually a Nichols. I've yet to see one marked as such. Plenty of swivels, but not a striking bag.

      to me that bag looks to be an old spalding, maybe?

      and the nichols swivel with this bag may be a "later model" for I have a couple of the earlier versions and they had the place for a string or chord attachment. This one has a metal ball and metal hook, which probably came after the rope versions. Maybe,...I don't know what order they first appeared.

        The rope version came first, the hook adaptation came later.

          That's what I meant. I have the "early" version for the rope. The hook on that swivel (on ebay) looks pretty weak.

            Looking closer at this it appears that someone modified an older style rope/ball swivel by putting a threaded hook in. The later Nichols swivels that came from the factory with a hook have two links like what good ball hooks have.
