Hutch made good bags, and a lot of them this one looks good near mint condition. It will need a new bladder more than likely. It's about the same size as an Everlast 4207, neck is broader than the Everlast. If it was selling for half of what he's asking I'd seriously consider it.
It's pricey tho, a hundred bucks by the time you add in the shipping.
Thanks for the info! From the looks of that bag, it appears to have been taken care of. I think I'm going to bid on it (I asked the eBay Seller about it, and he's going to re-post it!). Even if it's not suitable for punching, it will be a nice bag for my collection. Thanks again, Dutch!
I remember that one. It's a 4200 from the 1950's, and it appeared to be in very good shape. One of the current Everlast bladders will fit it, as the size of the 4200 has varied only slightly over the years. As far as being able to use it, that has mostly to do with how it has been treated. They used good leather back then, and if it wasn't abused it should be good to go for many more years.
I have a question for you, Mr. Historian. Paranday posted an ebay listing of an old Everlast Kangaroo 4200 (in the Play it Again section of the forum). I was wondering if it's too old to actually punch on. I'm unsure of its age. I was wondering if I could get your opinion. Here's the listing (it has expired) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=160502187027
My ancestry is Dutch. My family were among the first inhabitants of New Netherlands, more specifically the area that is now the state of Delaware. Although I have yet to visit the homeland, I have a strong bond with it. As a youth, I had a natural skill of building dams, and a love of draaiorgels..................
Your name indicates you might be a dutchman indeed, I hope you live in the Netherlands, you could help me out. I am looking for a speed bag platform, but I can't find any in the local shops ( Eindhoven) and I dont have experience with internetshopping. Can you tell me where you got yours??
Nighttrain, The name of the firm that still has large bags is GENESPORT in Quebec, Canada www.genesport.net They have bags and bladders up to 16" long and by the looks of them they are at least 12" or more at the belly.
This is one that I have been trying to nail down for a while. I've seen a couple, and have a pic of one in use. It appears that the firm that made these outfitted complete gyms for schools and other institutions. We tried tackling this on the forum, with little success. It's very possible that this company didn't survive the Great Depression, and or it's assets were assimilated by another firm or just burned. A lot of that happened. But I'm not giving up!
Hey Dutchman, here's a question I got on Speedbagcentral.com
"....I have a question for you. I have an old cast adjustable platform (hand crank) with a 37 inch wood deck. The cast iron has a logo Nm or mn co (New Medford?). I've been a trainer for 25 years and nobody I know has a clue as to its history. I have seen them before but again, no history. I wonder if you have some information that can help me with this platform. It's the best I have ever seen.
