    Swivel issue

    Hi everyone,

I received the SP bible so i just start to work on my platform.
I tried many swivels, i'm not good enough (yet) for a ball hook, too hard to control and with the chain link swivel, the arc was too small, give me too much speed.
I finally get the perfect swivel for my level, it was an EZ swivel, but after only a couple of minutes of use the swivel broke...
I just can't screw the swivel housing in the base, the base is now too wide and if i screw it, after one punch, it fall.
Do you have any idea to fix it? I tried some glue but doesn't work

That's pretty sad cause i was working good and i can see my progress every days...

    Thanks

    Hi Nectar and welcome.

Sorry you're having problems with your set up. The answer is often just modifying the equipment you have.

I would suggest you go back to the chainlink and either (1) let a little air out of you bag to slow it down or (2) get a bigger bag with a longer rebound arc, which will also slow it down, and underinflate that also if needed. Adding or subtracting two or three puffs of air in a bag makes a big difference in speed and should not damage the bag, just make sure the outer leather is smooth and all the wrinkles are out. Usually a bag will take 8 or 9 pumps of air after that before it is really hard and tight, to the point it is difficult to press in with the thumbs. Once you get all the wrinkles out and the outer surface is smooth and even, try doing a few punches. If it's really flat and too slow, add another two pumps and try again. Keep doing that until you find the most comfortable range for your ability.

The above will also work with the Ballhook. although you find it more difficult to control, it will be a bit easier with an slightly underinflated bag. Do not worry about how slow you may punch. Speed at this point for you is totally unimportant, and will show up on it's own as you gain control.

Let us know how it goes.
