Why the jab is the most effective punch!

If you watch boxing you know that a high percentage of fighters do not know how to correctly evade a jab or defend from it. This one punch sets all of your other punches up effectively. One would think since a lot of people know this that fighters would surely get hit with this punch a lot less, WRONG... When thrown correctly, the jab can be extremly hard to evade if your sense of distance from your opponent is bad.

Key 1 to becoming a better boxer is learning to throw and evade the jab properly. This technique alone will make you more effective then the majority of fighters out there who just bore their way into the striking distance of their opponents.

Well, that was my jewel of the day, check back for more advice and tips to becoming a better boxer. I'll be posting my opinion and expertise at least once a day minimum drop by to share your advise and information, it will be valued. Safe boxing my friends, safe boxing!

Wing chun modified to JKD will not only allow for effective jab evade but set the cross up to be devastating.

Is your craft JDK? I studied martial arts from the age of 4 to 13 then I discovered boxing. Believe it or not at times it is possible to incorporate martial arts while boxing. Studying many systems allows you to be a more well rounded fighter as a whole. Taking the strengths from one system and combinding them with others is what keeps a fighter from depending on a set way of doing things.

        JKD.
No counter argument from me on that. I boxed in the Marine Corps while learning Wing Chun and moving into JKD. I totally agree the more methods learned, the more tools to used upstairs in the noggin

Wing Chun is a system I always wanted to study. The movements are so fluid. This would be an excellent system to incorporate with boxing. Cheers to you!

I agree Doss, Larry Holmes studied under the great Muhammad Ali as a sparring partner. Go back and do some research and compare jabs, you'll see that they had similar jab styles if not the same. In addition to that pay close attention to both of these fighters foot placement. Thats very important!
