Title bag a bit heavy for me

I bought 2 Title speed bags...6x9 & 7x10. The small and medium one.

I started out learning on an everlast 7x10 4214 which I actually grown a custom to. The first bag I had was a bit out of round and lost psi, but I returned it and got another one and the one i've been using is great.

Then the title bags came and I realized the Title bags didn't suite me very well. They're heavier than the Everlast 4214 which creates a slow movement of the bag forcing greater effort for the bag to do what the 4214 did. Plus the leather is different from the 4214. I think the board tends to absorb the leather on the Title bag a bit more. The leather on the 4214 is like leather on a basket ball and tends to bounce off the board real good. Just in hand to hand feel for weight, even the smaller 6x9 feels heavier than the 7x10 Everlast 4214. I like the size tho. 6x9 is real comforting and easier to do tricks with. Didn't realize how much I really like this everlast bag till I compared it to something else. But let me make this clear, the Title bags are great. The construction of the bag and the leather is good quality. I have 2 Title double end bags with the same leather and has done me justice for 4 months without losing a psi for weeks. It just so happens that I'm a custom to the 4214 because that is my first bag. I want one like it but smaller. I'm not a fan of the Title bags not because of it's quality, but because of my taste and preference in style. With that said I have a question...

    QUESTION
Can you guys give me some advice on a 6x9 bag to buy with leather skin like the 4214 and light weight like the 4214? Really want that bounce of the 4214 backed up with a smaller 6x9. A bag that's also shaped like the Title and 4214 bags, good side belly, real tear drop like. Any advice? I remember a thread with some bag reviews and weight.

I found that thread with the title bags, everlast, ringside, & top contender weights.

I was wondering, that title classic bag looks tempting. Real round, the leather looks more of the 4214 type, and is lighter in comparison the the regular title bag of its same size. Does anyone know how much the Title classic 6x9 weighs? Or even the Everlast 4214? I'd buy the black 6x9 Everlast high performance bag, but I think it's heavier than the 7x10 4214. Anyone know the weight of any of the rival bags? I need a scale so I can weigh the my bags.

You'd like the Top Contender 6x9. Feather light and nice shape. As far as I know it's real leather too. Don't let the price fool you, it's a great bag. Ringside.com seems to be down at the moment, I'll post up a link later...

I had the same problem, which is outlined here

I found that my new title 9x6 was slower than my 4214.
I exchanged the red 9x6 for the yellow 8x5 and found very satisfied with the speed and feel.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm going to get both contender and Title Classic since I have these Super Bag Gloves from ringside that were too big and have to return anyways.

But which sizes should I get from each? Now I want to get a 6x9 and a 5x8 but don't know which bag I should get in its size. Should I get the Contender in the larger 6x9 and the classic in 5x8 or vice versa? Which is the lighter of the 2 size for size? Maybe I get the lighter one in the larger size? What do you guys think?

HELLO, the top contender bags are lighter, the title classics are a bit heavier, Also if you order from Ringside, instead of ordering online order from their toll free number and say your ordering from catalog code-(YG-2) in which the TC bags are $19.99 instead of $29.99, they said they'll honor that catalog price for about another week!!!

Doh! I forgot I have that catalog. lol. Good thing you reminded me. I'll order it tomorrow.

Maybe i'll just get both sizes in the Top Contender bag? I dunno. What do you guys think? Which bag would you rather have in a 5x8, Top Contender or Classic Title Bag? Yes I can think for myself, but I've never tried these bags before and don't know which one would be better in 5x8. Would it be better to have a bit more weight in a smaller bag?

The only thing i can say is I have the TC 4x7 and 5x8 and they are super light and probably the fastest bags i have ever hit (even faster than my Rival 4x6) but i also have the Title classic 5x8 and though not quite as fast i still love to hit it, and I think its one of SKUNKS faves(he friggin SMOKES that bag)!!!!!...........so buy em all (ha ha)

97Mustang82 - when you get your new bags, PLEASE post your results! I am the same, I love my Everlast red 4210's - VERY bouncy and feels great. I have a few of the Title bags, which are extremely well constructed, but like you say, they're much slower bag, more uumph to get them going (leather seems thicker, and seem to take a while to 'break' in). I am now using the Title for warm ups and practicing at slower speeds (newer combinations, etc), then move to the bouncier Everlast to practice at faster speeds later in my workout. I'd like to get more bags like the bouncy Everlast (personal preference, not due to quality), so I'm real interested in your conclusions with your new bags!

I'm in love with my ringside brand bags. Really light and nice on the hands. Have 6x9s and a 5x8. The 5x8 is fast and super light, much harder to hit. Just got it, I need some work on it. They all have super plush leather. The only thing is they are more on the "peanut" shape. Little more spendy too. I prefer a slender shape bag. I am fairley new to hitting from other sides of the bag than the front. I have everlast bags. 4200s, 4210s 4214s, pro 5x8. Since hitting all around, the ringside get all the hitting now. The others have gone flat with neglect. To each his own I guess.

                          Bladder Type

I unlaced the 6x9 Title bag that I had originally bought and it has the rubber bladder. My large 7x10 4214 everlast bag has the orange plastic bladder. I remember someone saying something about the bladder having to do with the bounce of the bag and I think the bladder definitely has a big part of why these everlast bags bounce so fast and feel so light even though it's bigger.... Imagine 2 balls of the same size, one plastic and one rubber. The plastic one not only will weigh less, but bounce higher and it won't absorb the bounce as much as a heavier rubber ball.

But I've grown a custom to the slower Title bag because it's more controllable and better for doing tricks which the everlast bag is better for gaining speed and so now I have developed a taste for both types of bags. Weird how that works, I'm sure the veterans here have gone through this phase before

So I'm going with both the 6x9 Top Contender and the 5x8 Classic Title. As long as I can still get that top contender for $19.99 tomorrow, I'm definitely buying it. I'll update on them even tho I haven't updated on my homemade speed bag platform yet. Sorry about that, I have been busy restoring 2 heavy bags in which I took the torn cloth and sand bags out and put a PVC pipe in the center, filled it up with sand and repacked the cloth around the pipe and now have 2 heavy bags that feel better than any bag I have ever hit in my life. I'll do a thread on this aswell. Amazing what you can learn on the internet.

                            hello

Hello to all, this my first post, My name is Gary Chapman, I'm from england. I have a speedball set up which I made myself a couple of years ago, (with help from my dad), It works quite well, I chose the u bolt swivel, this works ok, however ive bought the everlast standard swivel and am going to try that, but is this the swivel alan has warned us against, or is it the old everlast 4447 swivel? i'll attach some pics of my platform and the new swivel

                            Thanks

Yes, that's the one that Alan warned us about. I understand that it works okay for a while, but it wears out and falls apart after some use.
