Has anyone used a platform like this?

It's a Fitbox platform but Lonsdale make an identical looking one.

Reason I'm asking is that I got hold of one for a bargain price off ebay with some other boxing stuff. I have never put it up because it's REALLY heavy and I'm not sure the wall will take the weight. Also the space for the back bracket is very tight, so I left my basic board up and just used the adidas ball that came with it.

Does anyone know what this platform is like? It appealed because it can be height adjusted and mine can't. If it's a decent board I could keep it and put it up later in the year, we are doing building on the house then and I will have to find a new spot for my speedbag anyway.

Or I could maybe donate it to the gym as part of my 'resurrect the speedbag graveyard' down there

Or keep the board and use a different type of bracket? I checked and the everlast swivels would fit in the same screw holes.

But if the platform is not all that great, I hope someone will tell me!
    Thanks

Hi Mrs Mitts!! usually platforms with only central support are not very stable! but i must say this one does look to be well made so try it you may like it also it is a good idea to drill through the screw holes and fit the swivel with nuts and bolts, hope this is of some help! i would think before long you will get a better reply from someone who has used this model.

Sorry no help from me either. I've never hit one of these platforms but I heard they do tend to vibrate and it's difficult to put some weight on top because of the centre mount. Hang in there, someone will be along who's hit one of these.

I have not but there is a member here that has that unit. I remember a post about it a few months ago. Can't find it at the moment, but we did discuss the center pole problem.

As Royale said, looks like a Cleto Reyers which is a Mexican brand who make super fast, high quality speedbags.

In my opinion this unit would be better mounted to a brick wall rather than a plasterboard wall. With only one wall bracket you would need it to remain rigid.

I have always been fasinated with this concept. Whilst I have never used one, I do think it would many advatages and like you the height adjustment system does look quite easy and quick.

            Look forward to your review.
