Anyone have more history on the Narragansett platform?

I'm interested in learning more about this cool platform. If my memory is correct, my undergraduate university had one of these in the old gym. I used it all the time, and remember thinking how superior it was and they don't make them like they used to. They renovated the old gym and I don't think the old Narragansett is there any more. I wonder what became of it.

I searched here on the forum and found mainly for sale links and a link to the catalog where I found the attached picture.

Enter "Narragansett" into the search box up at the the top page and you'll see we have talked a lot about the Narragansett Machine Co.

Can I? Hmm, not sure. In reply #2 I was told where the search button was and how to use it. Posting a link sounds pretty advanced.

How steady are these platforms? I remember them being impressively rock steady when I used them, but its a 30 year old memory which is nostalgic and fuzzy now.

When NMC folded, the old Everlast Co (not the current outfit with the name) bought the remaining stock , parts and patterns to this platform. They sold these up through the 1980's. They were near identical to the NMC product, just missing the NMC logo in the circle (which the cutout was still there). These are still being used, but occasionally one will come on the market.

I wish Title had bought the remaining stock. Maybe would still be available. Not that I could justify the expense of owning one.
