Proper hanging of vintage speed bag platform

I have a pretty old speed bag and platform and I am unsure how it was mounted. It may have hung from a ceiling and wall, not just a wall. I have 10' ceilings in my workout room so that is not a real option. Also any information on the unit would be great. I am unable to find any markings on the back or platform.

Pretty sure Dutchman and Zaza are the ringleaders here on that topic.

Looks to be a Nonpareil style rebound ring, and these are wall mounted. Just how they are is dependent upon what kind walls you have, i.e. poured concrete, concrete block, brick lathe & plaster, or wall board.

JButts, is that an old tuf-wear bag?

I know it's an old post, but I found an ended eBay auction with that platform and lots of pics showing how it was mounted. Hope this helps.

With this type of speedbag platform, did the bag just rebound off of the rim or was there supposed to be a flat surface ?

Just off the rim, on the belly of the bag. You can always tell if a bag was used on one of these by the pronounced wear ring on it. Everlast starting in the 1970's advised in writing not to use their bags on rebound rings.Said use dramatically shortened the life of the bag.
