Recap of the Orlando Speed Bag Seminar 2007

What a blast! 9 hours and many satisfied trainees were in attendance. Truth be told, we had as many people as we could possibly give proper attention to. I think we had at least 20 at various times through the day.

I was very glad to meet Zach Ruffo in person and see him in action. Zach looks incredible in his videos and is absolutely mind blowing in person.

Alan gives a talk on the basics... the crowd isn't in the shot here, but it was 10 people, plus me and Zach.

This gentleman hung out for the better part of the day and picked up quite a few new techniques. He learned a lot and was impressive in how quick he learned what he did.

    Another satisfied trainee...

Alan demonstrates the finer points of F-ROLL to an LA Boxing instructor

Skunk takes to the platform... can you even see the speed bag in this photo? He walked right up to the 7x4 and had it SMOKIN'!

Another LA Boxing instructor, also did very well on the 7x4

Skunk gives tips on elbows. The lady on the right learned a few new techniques, and was quite impressive on the bag.

Alan and Zach, discussing the speed bag

Alan gives an overview of the Speed Bag Bible. A few lucky trainees received complimentary copies.

    J. Scott, marketing director for LA Boxing, works the bag

Take a good look at this shot. This is more speed bag talent in one photo than you'll likely ever see.

    Tim and Zach

The 3 amigos of speed bag

And in this corner, Zach Ruffo, aka the Speed Bag Skunk, and future UKC champion.

Guys, take a look again, I did an edit and added more photos and captions.

Skunk took a lot of video, I'm sure he'll be posting it shortly. I didn't take my video camera. Alan got quite a few still shots as well.

Green with envy. I wish I could have hung out with Skunk and Tim. And who is this Alan Kahn character? Just kidding, it must have been like a twilight zone episode having those two go in unison(skunk and alan). I wish I was there to add some sloppy power to the mix...

I wish everyone could have been there ... really it was a blast. I'd love to do a national level event, but from this experience I'd say that's a few years off. In the meantime, look for more regional events ...

I think he burned his hands from the flames coming off the swivel....

Let there be NO doubt, that the Skunk is the real deal when it comes to smokin' a speed bag. I can't say I have ever seen or heard a speed bag basic rhythm that fast for that long. I was waiting for the boom that occurs when the sound barrier is broken. You have got to experience it live to fully grasp the raw speed of his movements. On a 7x4 or 6x4 bag, it's an awesome experience and a video clip doesn't do it justice.
