New platform taking some time to get used to

So I built this three station speed bag platform because my stand alone TKO multi stand had wobble and the platform was a one inch trainee type thing. I've ordered a Reyes small and mini to accompany the medium I received this past Christmas.

..thing is, this new four inch thick platform made of four 1' plywood pieces (24' by 6'4 wide) glued and screwed from both sides is taking some time to get used to. Not sure why, I'm assuming this is because the bag response is much faster with the much thicker wall affixed contraption I have built? Very frustrating, although I'm only two days with it. I love it, but it seems to be far more challenging than the wobbly, thin, cheap platform I cut my teeth on for my first three weeks of bagging.

Do new/different platforms have an adjusting period? Any thoughts from you guys would be very much appreciated.

      yep

Things got infinitely better when I calmed the hell down, stopped hitting so hard and just, focused.

Just remember, the key is control, once you master that, the speed will follow.

Yo that is one awesome setup! You have my dream setup. To be able to have a ubolt, chain link and ball hook to hit on. When I first started I hit hard and fast. Cut up my hands and was unable to learn harder techniques. Now I hit much softer and relax and found that I enjoy it more, can hit for hours at a time, and have much better control.

Very cool, I'm definitely jealous of that set up. It shouldn't take you long to adjust and get the feel for the new faster bag speed.

That set-up cost me (without bags and swivels) about $145. in wood, Lepage PL adhesive, screws and paint. You're in the US so deduct about 20% off of that price.

Yeah, I'm definitely adjusting to the faster bags but the biggest hurdle is my own bad habits when hitting. IE dropping my fists and shoulders, only to have to bring them back up to catch the bag.. and just relaxing in my approach to hitting. Still far to tense, dammit. Definitely have my good days but still, the not as good days still happen. Damned frustrating

              ..however, I'm addicted
