Thanks, guys. Here are some pics of how it went together.

Step 1 - 2x4 mounting studs on 16" center fastened to concrete wall using Toggler snap-toggle bolts.

Step 2 - 2'x2'x1/2" MDF base plate with pre-drilled holes and dowels for holding top piece.

Step 3 - 2'x2'x3/4" MDF and 3/4" Ipe flooring, preassembled, drilled, and finished with high gloss spar varnish.

Step 4 - Finished top piece bolted to base plate and mounting studs with countersunk 3" lag bolts with 3/4" washers.

Step 5 - Speed bag platform mounting rails bolted onto top piece through pre-drilled holes using 1 1/2" lag bolts and washers.

          Step 6 - Finished platform.

It may not be finished finished. Who knows. I had intended to put corner moulding around the wood, but I had all the wood finishing fun I could handle for now. I also considered adding an inset clock with sweep second hand into the wood, but I could not find a clock insert that I liked.

I really like the xmark. It needs to be installed correctly or it could be tricky to keep the platform from moving around when you tighten the bolts. Now that I have it bolted to solid concrete, very little vibration from my larger bags.

I think it is a good value. I would not recommend the less expensive version that has the thinner steel L-shaped rails. I wish I could compare it to the Balazs, but I have not hit one. The one they had at the gathering was too high up for me to try.

Now adorned with some bag bling. A cornucopia is horn of copia.

A wise man once said, "You can never have too many bags". I think it was Louis Vuïtton.

That looks great. What sort of platform is that?
