Reach Striking Bags-profession and theatrical bags

Here is a interesting find...

Searching a little speed bag history the other day and found this in a 1908 newspaper...

Reach Striking Bags "for professional and theatrical bag punchers"

(...just for Dutchman)

http://www.workshopoftheworld.com/fishtown/reach.html

This was in the same paper as the 1908 Vaudeville appearance of Milo Vagge announcement below.

5 cents admission to the the "world champion" bag punchers. Wonder what that would cost now....

(would this be a nice time travel trip...)

Mr. and Mrs Vagge. When platforms were man-sized, not the wimpy little things of today.

Great ads!The Reach bag that I have is just wonderful. It has to be at least 80 years old, the leather is glove soft, the stitching is immaculate and with the Title double end bag bladder it's really lively. I can see why they would be the choice of "Professional and Theatrical bag punchers".

Yes sir. And giant swivels too!

Here's a few other things I found poking around the internet...

March 1902 Ladies Home Journal Article "Good Health for Girls"
by Emma Walker, M.D. "The lastest fad for the NY girl"

1904 Belle Gordon, Physical Culture for woman
Fancy Bag Puncher

George Hertz 1907 world champion bag punching manipulator
"10 bags at once"

1908 Mr. & Mrs. Milo Vagge, World Champion Bag Puncher
Vaudeville appearance

1907 Franks and Franks, lady bag punchers

1949 Lenny and Margie Ross Ed Sullivan Show Appeared in state fairs and theaters into the mid 1960's.

It just keeps on getting better.

This is the couple that I remember seeing as a child, introduced me to the wonderful world of the speed bag.
