This is my first post - great forum!

Recently I started working out with a BOB training dummy and that has spurred the interest in adding a speed back to my home gym workouts. After having a cheap speed bag as a teenager, I am planning to add something of higher quality and the information I have found here in this forum has helped me to decide to purchase the Balazs i-Box platform. Amazon will be getting my money this week.

Now I just need to figure out how/if I can mount it to the steel studs that were used in my workout room construction.

Thanks for all the great info.

The studs in the pic are at least 20 gauge. I say that because I see welds. 25GA doesn't weld

So even though you have heavier gauge studs, I doubt you will stop vibration mounting your platform to them.

If you must mount it there, you may want to mount wood backing, either 2" x 8"s, or 3/4" plywood between the studs at the height you need.

I think you will have to kick the wall near your mounted platform to the ceiling, on a 45 degree angle. Use two kickers, metal studs with tabs to screw them in place.

          Hope this helps.

          Any more questions, just ask

Thanks for the replies. The metal studs had me worried. After contemplating this further, I decided to move some things in my room around and shift the location of my speed bag to a different wall that is exposed on the other side to my utility room. I have access to the unenclosed wall so I am going to reinforce it with good old fashioned 2X4's and attach my platform to them.

Looking forward to the project this weekend.

If possible put in a few 4x4's for more support. They will fit in the same space, and just be wider.

              just a suggestion.

That's not a bad idea to put a couple full height 4 x 4's in the wall. He could always kick it later if need be.
