I just had to post a pic of this platform here again, since the ad ran out , no one gets to see this work of art. I know I'll be hitting on one of these someday!!
This is the coolest, most badass design I've seen. Thanks Geoff for sharing and for the inspiration, Tommy T

Alan, please, tell us what the story is behind the platform.
Did you like hitting on it?
Is it hanging up now?
Did you like the adjustability?
Is there a video with the platform being used?
Big T,
The history (for me) is:
In 1997 I attended the Silver Gloves Boxing tournament, sponsored by Ringside Boxing in Lenexa Kansas. They had brought me in to do a speed bag training session during their daily training seminars.
Their home office and factory is located in Lenexas KS, and they had a demonstration room with one of these wall units (see pic below) up in that location. I got to punch it up for a while and of course it was rock solid and the electric adjustment was smooth and efficient. That is the only time I used it. During that era I was included on "team ringside", (see pic below), and they sent one of these to me at home. This is a beast of a unit, and waaaaay too heavy and probably overkill for a home based location used by one person. I seriously doubted the bedroom wall where I was shooting video's and working out would support this amount of weight for long, and my own personal training requirements (one guy hitting a few days a week) didn't really warrant this heavy duty of a unit. So, it got put in an outdoor storage building, where it sits to this day. The storage building got broke into a few months ago, but I don't think any parts of this were stolen. (It would be hard to grab any part of this and toss it over the fence).
The other time I saw, (and used a lot), an electric adjustable speed bag unit (with a satellite dish motor) was the free standing frame created by Hitman (see pic below). I did use these in about five different public appearances, and they adjusted really easy in a high volume locations (like sporting goods shows) for teaching. I remember thinking it needed more weight or perhaps Sandbags over the top to help reduce vibration. Here is a picture using it at a sporting goods demonstration in Chicago (look down to that pic on this link)
so:
Did you like hitting on it? - YES, very much. SpeedyTommy T would like it. Is it hanging up now? - No. Did you like the adjustability? - Yes, very smooth.
