    Speed bag laces

For anyone else who hates the big, thick shoelaces that come on some bags:

I've been swapping out those laces with thin, waxed, laces that usually come on dress shoes. I've been getting them from shoelacesexpress.com, for 3.99 a pair. They've got black, brown, and white in various lengths. They are similar to the laces that come on Everlast bags, just a little thinner. I've been lacing these into my bags and trimming off the excess, and it gives the bag a good, clean look, and gets rid of floppy laces.

I'll post a photo of a couple bags later, but here is a link to the laces I've been using: http://www.shoelacesexpress.com/waxeddress.asp

Nice idea aad. I've also had some bags with cheap looking nylon trainer laces in which spoil the look for sure.

Look forward to seeing your pics.

Here are some of the bags I switched laces on. I think I am going to lace all of mine with white, so that I do not get them mixed up with anyone else's.

I normally trim any excess off the laces and tuck them in but the ends tend to work out again.

I personally don't like dress show waxy laces because they never stay tied.
At least not on my shoes. Soon as I buy a pair of shoes with waxy laces I ditch them for real string.

never tried them on speed bags. That's kind of original.

When lacing your bags does it matter the thickness of your laces? Could you use boot laces or regular shoe laces?

I don't think the thickness of the laces will matter as long as they fit through the holes.

Thanks!! Just starting out myself figured I'd pop the question because eventually if I stick with it I'm going to have goofy colors and stuff because I like to be different, but I want to be functional and safe at the same time.

I used 1/8" laces, and that seems to be a good size.

Today most kids just velcro them or leave them untied. Apparently it takes too long to actually lace them and do a bow knot.
