Swivel Screws
I have this everlast swivel currently
http://www.amazon.com/Everlast-4444-...3274113&sr=8-1 I was interested in the other type of swivels like this one http://www.fitness-equipment.com/aca...ystems_30.html Someone told me that they use different size screws? There is no standard screw size for everything? By screw I mean the part that goes into the wood base. I'm really not interested in drilling new holes. |

The best thing to do is drill right through the drum and use nuts and bolts, these will not come loose with vibration!!

I'm a bit confused when you say drill right through the drum, and use nuts and bolts. I tried searching but was unable to find any instructionals.
I'm assuming, I take off the old one, and just drill the new holes wherever I need them? I have no idea why they aren't all the same standard size. |

He means (if I'm not speaking out of turn here) to 1) find the center point of the platform; 2) put new swivel base in place; 3) mark the screw holes; 4) using a long enough drill bit to pass all the way through the platform, drill at least a 1/8" hole.
Then, go to your local hardware store and buy bolts long enough to BOLT the swivel base to the platform. Use a decent sized washer on the top of the platform and you have now mounted the swivel in a fashion that will not vibrate loose. Well worth the time... Griffin |

Also, it seems to me if you do this carefully, you can set your platform up for at least two, if not more, swivels. I plan to do just that -- pre-drill the new platform drum I'm making to accept the Everlast plastic base, as well as Boxing Gear's Watkin's Swivel.
I certainly agree with you -- it would be GREAT if there was such a thing as an OMNI-Swivel base... then we could just quickly swap in the various types of swivels, and happily try them all. |

Wing nuts are a great idea, Fingers! Makes it that much easier to tighten, change, remove... etc.

Bolting the swivel does two things. 1. Keeps the swivel attached tight, Eliminating the change of vibration to back out or loosen the screws. 2. Makes changing swivels a whole lot easier.
