Harry Seeback book

I found a copy of Scientific Bag Punching and couldn't let it go by. For almost hundred years old its in pretty god shape. The cover is a little worn but all the pages and staples are intact.

I like mine, too. Seeback was inventive. I haven't seen anyone today try the inverted chair idea for bagging with the feet yet, but I think Tim is planning to re-introduce this at the 2011 NJ convention.

I did download this book, and I gotta tell ya it's pretty amazing. Not a lot of text or explanation, but the pictures show that there was some serious bag study going on long ago. He clearly shows a Front Straight Punch (or hook in this example) going under the elbow of the other arm. With a Front Straight Punch we know that as a "Shadow Punch", and with a Hook Punch it becomes that amazing "under elbow-fist" combo that Deano and others have made famous.

This guy was doing it long before us. Amazing.

Great Find, Paranday.

Like Alan mentioned, what we know as Deano style seemed to be very popular back then. If i remember correctly that antique Spalding book described the same combo. Plus it mentions that combo in a 1901 magazine article paranday posted.
