Hi Ralph,

My knuckles split too. I put vitamin E (to help lubricate) under a large fabric band-aid that I run length-wise up the affected fingers.
I have to remind myself to wear gloves each time too (3/4 length) - each time I don't, I pay. Once the cracks heal, the gloves really do protect.
Be nice to your hands. No grins when they hurt. K

the other day i found out how and why i split my knuckle. i was smashing the bag up against the board (no gloves) and felt my knuckles, took a look and they were gonna start splitting again, funny thing is that never used to happen to me when i was younger, i guess now that i'm older i'll have to ware gloves when doing that. (older skin :-( on well...ralph

I AM NOT A DOCTOR:
Are you taking daily fish oils and keeping hydrated so callous are getting what they need to stay moisturized from within, which should prevent drying out and cracking in the first place?
My wife and I started taking pharmaceutical grade fish oil (recommended by John Daigneault, a local Master Trainer & MMA Title Holder), which turns out to be like Costco fish oil on mega steroids when you compare the ingredients.
The Heel Balm does the same thing from the outside, moisturizes and hydrates, but the best way is to misturize from the inside, with fish oil & drinking plenty of WATER daily.
It is AMAZING what one can control with diet. I overcame diabetes thru diet.
Unfortunately, there is no quick fix for a cracked callous, but like the speed bag, NOW you can anticipate it coming at you and meet it with appropriate punchs before it has a chance to out maneuver you again in the future.

Now that you're older, Ralph? You're still a youngin' in my eyes! Randolph has great advice, so consider doing what he suggests. It will make a difference. I, myself, have to remember to drink more water throughout the day, as I know how important it is to keep hydrated.
